Winter is here!
So it is definitely winter now. It is a great time for knitting! I love these leg warmers and they are super easy to make: Cast on 45 stitches on US size 8 needles. k1p1 for 8 rounds. Then k4p1 until it is long enough and cast off. I added some green stripes of 5 rows each.
Here are some warm cozy worsted weight wool socks for hanging around the house. You can find the pattern here.

First Cabled hat
I recently joined a knitting group that meets at the library. It is really nice finding other knitters in a small town! One of the other knitters showed me how easy cables can be and inspired me to make this cabled hat for my friend's birthday. So here is my first cabled hat!! (Pattern can be found here)

Fingerless Gloves
Here are some fingerless gloves I made on the plane to Europe. This is a great project to take with you while traveling. It is small and pretty easy even for a beginner like me. You can find the pattern here.

First Blanket
My first blanket. An easy rectangularized granny square. I found the pattern and great easy to follow instructions at ErinLindsey's Pile of Yarn. I had not yet learned the join as you go technique for joining granny squares and am not fond of sewing in loose ends, so this was a great project that could be done without much finishing work.

First Knit Socks
I finally learned how to knit socks on double pointed sticks earlier this year. It was intimidating at first but I took a great class at Magpie yarn in Lexington, KY with my good friend k and it made it much less intimidating. We learned how to make a small sock and were given full instructions to take home. My first ever knit sock is the little green one at top. I was worried I wouldn't be able to make the full size socks at home but the class ended up being well worth it as I was able to complete my first pair of socks at home!

San Francisco Bag
This is the purse I made for my good friend L who recently moved to San Francisco. I got the pattern here. I modified the pattern slightly to add a flap closure. I lined the purse and put a pocket in it embroidered with "San Francisco"- my first attempt at embroidery. |
